About us
Building a Legacy of Creativity and Cultural Connection in Our Local Neighborhoods
The Marlborough Arts Coalition stands as a cornerstone of cultural life in the Milton and Marlborough region, serving as a dedicated non-profit organization that believes art is the heartbeat of any healthy community. Our organization serves as a bridge between the historical traditions of the Hudson Valley—from its storied landscapes to its industrial heritage—and the contemporary voices of our local residents. By providing a physical and social space where creativity can flourish without boundaries, we ensure that every individual has the opportunity to explore their artistic potential in an environment that is both challenging and supportive. We operate on the foundational belief that art is not a luxury or a pastime but a fundamental necessity for human connection, mental health, and emotional well-being. From our central location on Conklin Hill Road, we coordinate a wide array of initiatives that bring people together, transcending social and economic barriers through the universal language of creative expression. Our commitment extends beyond just hosting events; we are the builders of a movement that recognizes the intrinsic value of every medium, from the traditional visual arts like painting and pottery to the cutting-edge worlds of performance and digital media. We believe that by investing in the arts, we are investing in the very soul of our community, ensuring that our local culture remains as vibrant and diverse as the people who call this region home.

Our story
A Journey of Passion Growth and Unwavering Commitment to the Arts in Milton
The Marlborough Arts Coalition began as a modest gathering of local artists and visionaries who shared a common, persistent dream of establishing a permanent home for creativity in the heart of the Hudson Valley. In those early years, our founders recognized a significant gap in accessible cultural programming for families and individuals living in Milton and the surrounding towns, who often had to travel great distances to find quality arts instruction. Driven by the belief that a community is defined by the strength of its culture, they began organizing small-scale exhibitions and informal workshops in shared spaces, slowly building a reputation for excellence, inclusivity, and warmth. They met in living rooms, rented church basements, and public parks, carrying their supplies in the trunks of their cars and fueled only by their passion for artistic expression. As word spread about the transformative power of these gatherings, the need for a dedicated, permanent facility became undeniable. Through years of persistent advocacy, community fundraising, and the tireless, selfless efforts of volunteers, the coalition eventually found its permanent home at 85 Conklin Hill Road. This transition marked a pivotal moment in our history, allowing us to expand our mission from a small group of enthusiasts into a comprehensive non-profit organization capable of serving hundreds of residents annually and providing a stable foundation for the arts in our region.
What we do
Developing Innovative Programs That Inspire Creativity and Foster Lasting Collaboration
At the Marlborough Arts Coalition, we offer a diverse and expansive range of programs designed to engage individuals at every stage of their artistic development, from the first-time hobbyist to the seasoned professional. Our curriculum is carefully and intentionally crafted to provide a delicate balance of structured technical instruction and open-ended, imaginative exploration. This ensures that participants can build a solid foundation of fundamental skills while also finding the freedom to discover and cultivate their unique creative voice. We offer classes in traditional mediums such as oil painting, ceramic sculpture, and film photography, alongside modern, cutting-edge workshops in digital design, multimedia storytelling, and performance art. Our daily activities are characterized by a profound sense of purpose and joy, as our instructors work closely with students to help them overcome technical hurdles and celebrate their creative breakthroughs. Each day at our facility is a new opportunity for discovery, whether it is a toddler experiencing the tactile wonder of clay for the first time or a professional artist refining a complex digital workflow in our shared computer lab. We provide the tools, the space, and the mentorship necessary for every artistic dream to take flight.
